Ẹ̀YỌ̀

by PROMISE ABODUNRIN

Èy̩ò̩ is a masquerade native to Lagos State, Nigeria. They typically come out dancing energetically in their large white robes during the Èy̩ ò̩ festival, which is traditionally held to escort the soul of a departed traditional ruler and usher in a new one. In this piece, I reimagined the Èy̩ò̩ in a futuristic manner.
